I was quite surprised to find yet another Stack Overflow type website. This time, the site is about machine learning. Although, not pure mathematics, I felt a few readers would be interested.
I am now aware of so many Stack-Overflow-like sites that it would be difficult for me to keep abreast of them all. At the moment, I have RSS feeds which let me know when new questions show up.

At various stages in the academic life cycle, for instance at the undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral level, we find ourselves trying to make a decision about which academic institutions to apply to and which academic institutions we should ultimately attend or take a job at. Various ranking systems of universities feature prominently in decision making. Although, not specifically directed to mathematics students, the consumer affairs blog, The Consumerist, takes a tough look at college rankings. The Consumerist also links to an analysis of colleges by return on investment done by Payscale Inc.
There is an interesting post by Terry Tao on some of the work of this year’s Fields Medal Winners.

For those who may not be aware, Stack Overflow is the popular question-and-answer site where people can ask and answer programming related questions. It works on a points system. Points are awarded for both asking and answering questions, with different abilities to manipulate the site being given to people with a certain number of points.
The Stack Overflow format is proving popular. In addition to the now senior Math Overflow, where questions of mathematics of interest to professionals in mathematics are posted, we have three new sites:
