When I heard that there was a contest to explain your PhD thesis through dance<\/a>, I knew that I had to do it. I spent a few months thinking about how to turn my theorem into a compelling dance, and then a few more months filming and video editing, and I am extremely happy with the finished product:<\/p>\n

Lucky for me, I work in geometry, so my thesis deals with shapes and objects that I can easily show to people. Still, no matter your field, I highly recommend considering making a video for this contest. It forced me to distill my thesis to its essential elements, which was a good exercise. It gives me something that I can easily show people when they ask me, “so what is your research about?” And I have received emails about the video from many people whom I have never met, so the video is getting the word out about my research, more than I could do on my own.<\/p>\n
