{"id":26584,"date":"2015-12-16T12:05:35","date_gmt":"2015-12-16T17:05:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ams.org\/mathgradblog\/?p=26584"},"modified":"2016-01-31T22:10:58","modified_gmt":"2016-02-01T03:10:58","slug":"graduate-student-section-notices-ams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ams.org\/mathgradblog\/2015\/12\/16\/graduate-student-section-notices-ams\/","title":{"rendered":"New Graduate Student Section in Notices of the AMS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As stated by the AMS \u201cThe Notices is the world&#8217;s most widely read magazine aimed at professional mathematicians. &#8230; [it] is sent to the approximately 30,000 AMS members worldwide, one-third of whom reside outside the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Frank Morgan, new Editor-in-Chief of Notices of the AMS, has introduced the \u201cGraduate Student Section\u201d to <em>Notices of the AMS<\/em>. This section will include interviews with mathematicians, an improved version of the popular \u201cWhat is \u2026?\u201d series, excerpts from the AMS Graduate Student Blog, and other sporadic articles. I will be conducting email interviews and working in\u00a0other articles for the Graduate Student Section. The first issue of Notices under Frank\u2019s tenure is available in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ams.org\/journals\/notices\/201601\/\">http:\/\/www.ams.org\/journals\/notices\/201601\/<\/a>. We have enhanced the website and added comment boxes. So feel free to take a look and add your comments!<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->We hope that this new section will spark interest in the graduate student body, so we get more involved in Notices. While we have a course of action in place, there is no better feedback than that of us, graduate students.
