{"id":136,"date":"2009-04-24T11:25:16","date_gmt":"2009-04-24T15:25:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mathgradblog.williams.edu\/?p=136"},"modified":"2009-04-24T11:25:16","modified_gmt":"2009-04-24T15:25:16","slug":"getting-started-with-latex","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ams.org\/mathgradblog\/2009\/04\/24\/getting-started-with-latex\/","title":{"rendered":"Getting Started with LaTeX"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By <a href=\"http:\/\/twofoldgaze.wordpress.com\/\">Kareem Carr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here are a few good links for getting started with LaTeX:<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>First, there is the great What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) software <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyx.org\/\">Lyx<\/a>, which is a good transition from your typical word processor to LaTeX.<\/p>\n<p>I also like the package <a href=\"http:\/\/www.texniccenter.org\/\">TeXnicCenter<\/a>, which is really simple to install on a Windows machine and the documentation is particularly nice.<\/p>\n<p>For introductory information, mathematics professor Ethan Bloch has\u00a0a very <a href=\"http:\/\/math.bard.edu\/bloch\/tex.htm\">comprehensive\u00a0web page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For more advanced tips in digestible chunks, I really love the <a href=\"http:\/\/texblog.wordpress.com\/\">Blog on Latex Matters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And last but not least, let&#8217;s not forget the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ams.org\/tex\/\">AMS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These sites reflect what has worked for me.
