You no doubt know that she is the first and only woman ever to have been honored with a Fields medal. This morning my colleague posted a piece giving an <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ams.org\/beyondreviews\/2017\/07\/17\/maryam-mirzakhani\/#more-1595\">overview <\/a>of her mathematical contributions.<\/p>\n<p>There have already been many pieces written about her, and there will be many more.
