For me, it is also a great time to browse the internet for fun activities to do. In this post, I highlight some of the mathematics inspired holidays internet treats you can explore and share with others!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Holiday Inspired Crafts and Puzzles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In her blog, <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff\" href=\"https:\/\/mathequalslove.blogspot.com\/2019\/\">&#8220;Math = Love&#8221;<\/a><\/span>, Sarah Carter compiled a list of <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff\" href=\"https:\/\/mathequalslove.blogspot.com\/2019\/12\/must-share-math-y-christmas-ideas.html\">&#8220;Must Share: Math-y Christmas Ideas&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #333333\">that are ideal for the classroom but also great to do at home. On the second, 2 regular candles and the shammash. And so on until the 2n-th day where 2n regular candles are lit alongside the shammash. How many candles do you need for the whole of Hanukkah in that universe? <em>(Note that the shammash is just the name for the candle put in the center, which is traditionally used to light the other ones. No candle is reused.)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Best Math Moments of 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are a fan of lists like me,\u00a0 you&#8217;ll enjoy reading about the best math &#8220;treats&#8221;\/moments of 2019. In the <span style=\"color: #3366ff\">&#8220;<a style=\"color: #3366ff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.popularmechanics.com\/science\/math\/g30346822\/biggest-math-breakthroughs-2019\/\">Biggest Math Breakthroughs of 2019&#8243;<\/a><\/span>, David Linkletter highlights that 2019 was a great year for getting closer to answering old questions and developing new techniques.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;In 2019, math seemed to have many mainstream moments\u2014and that\u2019s not including the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.popularmechanics.com\/science\/math\/a28569610\/viral-math-problem-2019-solved\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.popularmechanics.com\/science\/math\/a28569610\/viral-math-problem-2019-solved\/\">viral problems<\/a> <\/span>that made us want to rip our hair out.
