There are two small new changes to MathSciNet\u00ae<\/sup>: Search by DOI and Sort by Number of Authors.<\/p>\n The first tweak<\/a> is the ability to search by DOI<\/a> in a publications search.<\/p>\n In a Publication search, you have the following fourteen options for fielded search:<\/p>\n Author,\u00a0Author Related,\u00a0Title, Review Text, Journal, Institution, Series, The newest of these is DOI<\/span>.\u00a0 You can now search MathSciNet by entering the DOI of a paper.\u00a0 For example, if you have the DOI\u00a010.1090\/S0273-0979-1992-00266-5, entering it in the field<\/p>\n and the search will work.\u00a0 (It also works with http<\/strong> instead of https<\/strong>\u00a0in the URL.)<\/p>\n Note<\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0Sometimes publishers include a “\/<\/strong>” in the suffix<\/span>, as in https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1093\/imrn\/rns214<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n The result of the search in the example is the paper by Crandall, Ishii, and Lions on viscosity solutions:<\/p>\n MR1118699<\/strong> A DOI search is a specialized search, but in certain circumstances, it is very useful.<\/p>\n The second\u00a0tweak<\/a>\u00a0has to do with sorting.\u00a0 In a list of publications resulting from a search, you can sort the results in a variety of ways: Newest, Oldest, Citations, and now also by the number of authors on each item.\u00a0 For instance, a search for items authored byPaul Erd\u0151s results in\u00a01445 matches, which, by default, are sorted by newest first.\u00a0 Clicking on the “Sort by” button near the top of the left-hand column allows you to resort the results by oldest first<\/em>, by decreasing number of citations<\/em>, or by increasing number of authors<\/em> – labeled as “#Authors<\/strong>“.\u00a0 In the list of\u00a0Erd\u0151s publications, clicking on “Show first 100 results” allows us to display 100 matches per page.\u00a0 If we resort by number of authors, we see 100 papers written by\u00a0Erd\u0151s alone.\u00a0 Going to the next page, we see another 100 solo papers by\u00a0Erd\u0151s.\u00a0 It is not until the fifth page that we see co-authored papers, starting with one written by\u00a0Erd\u0151s and Diaconis (MR2126886<\/a>).<\/p>\n We have had requests for this feature, and now it is available!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\nI.
